Crock-Pot Express Pressure Cooker White Rice

I don't know about you but cooking rice in a pot on the stove-top can be an….adventure. To say the least.

I have tried over and over again to get perfectly cooked, fluffy white rice, but alas I either undercook it and end up with crunchy rice or I overcook it and end up with rice burnt and stuck to my pan.

So for the longest time I just used an electric rice cooker. However, when I got my Crock-Pot Express Multi-Cooker I ditched the rice cooker and just use my pressure cooker to cook rice.

I am all about one less appliance taking up space in my kitchen!

This recipe for white rice is so simple you almost don't need a recipe. But because it is the most common thing I cook in my Crock-Pot Express I figured I would share a recipe and my tips for cooking fail-proof white rice!

Equipment Needed For Crock-Pot Express White Rice Recipe:

  • 6 Quart Crock-Pot Express Multi-Cooker
  • Dry Measuring Cup
  • Liquid Measuring Cup
  • Fork (to fluff your rice and separate the grains)

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I Cook Any Type Of White Rice In My Crock-Pot Express?

You can easily use this exact recipe to cook just about any variety of white rice. Cooking long grain white rice, short grain white rice, basmati rice, jasmine rice, and sushi or sticky white rice all work great with this recipe in your Crock-Pot Express.

The only kind of white rice that does not work with this recipe is pre-cooked quick/minute rice.

Is Rinsing The Rice A Necessary Step?

Rinsing the dry grains of rice in cool water helps rinse away any sort of debris that might be in your rice and, most importantly, it also rinses away any excess starch that coat the rice grains. Rinsing away this starch is how you end up with fluffy rice. Not rinsing the rice will result with gummy rice.

Even for sushi rice, you will want to still rinse the rice. And then soak the dried sushi rice for 30 minutes in cold water.

Can I Use Broth Instead Of Water To Cook The White Rice In My Crock-Pot Express?

Using chicken broth, beef broth or even vegetable broth is a great way to add some additional flavor to your white rice. I like to use a good low-sodium and low-fat broth (either store-bought or homemade) which adds flavor without making my rice too salty. And then, if I want to add salt to my rice I do so before serving so I can control how much or how little I add.
